About Me
I’ve been drawing and creating for as long as I can remember. As a kid, wandering the wide open spaces of NY’s Mohawk River Valley, nature was my inspiration. Then as life happened, I did less of my own art and more strolling through museums enjoying the work of other artists. Over the years I have traveled to some breathtaking places (not nearly enough though - it’s a big beautiful world) absorbing all the things that made them unique.
After finding myself in a pottery class while living in Virginia Beach, a new creative outlet took hold. I was lucky to learn from or just share time in a studio with some incredible artists. There is something about putting your hands on a lump of clay and feeling it take shape. Maybe it’s taking me back to mud pies and sand castles when I was a kid. Maybe it’s realizing my age and appreciating our connection to the planet itself. Whatever the reason, there is a sense of accomplishment that comes with each object created. Sometimes a piece takes me in a different direction than planned, only to realize it was ultimately a better direction. It is both humbling and thrilling.
Now, coastal Maine is our home with all its rugged beauty. I’m still incorporating natural elements into not only the design of my work but also the technique in which pieces were fired. I hope you enjoy browsing through my work and reach out to me if something connects with you. I regularly update this site with new pieces… some of them are even looking for new homes.
